what is a blog

Blog Megan Lewis

A blog is like any other website, except that it offers an opinion on something or stories about what is happening with the author. Blogs are like online diaries but can be taken up by businesses to communicate with clients. To set up a blog you can use something like blogger or tumblr, by setting up an account. There are four types of blogs: personal, news and views, company and microblogs. A personal blog is basically an online diary where you can write about anything that interests you, whereas news and views blogs are written by professional journalists who report the news an example of this is the BBC website.  Company blogs are where companies write important things that their clients may need to know. However a microblog is where you can only post very short things, a good example of this is twitter where you only have 140 characters. There are always pros and cons to things like blogs here are some pros: you can write down anything that interests you, they are quick and easy to set up, adding updates is easy and quick, people can comment what they think, there are so many out there. Here are some cons: once it’s out there it’s out there forever, personal blogs can be biased or hold incorrect information, time consuming, comments could be rude, some blogs may be boring so you may have to look around for a while.
